Here’s where you can preorder the new Oura Ring 5
New wearable features AI-assisted guidance and Health Radar, with pricing starting at $399

Oura has opened preorders for the Oura Ring 5, its slimmest smart ring to date, ahead of its official release on June 4. The device, which starts at $399, is 40 per cent smaller than its predecessor and features improved battery life of up to nine days. New software capabilities include a Locate tool, live activity mode, GLP-1 tracking, and Health Radar for monitoring breathing and blood pressure patterns. The ring is available in silver and black from retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, with premium colours priced at $499. An optional wireless charging case is also available for preorder at $99.

The hardware redesign focuses on a slimmer and lighter profile, with Oura promising improved accuracy alongside the reduced size. The device supports both iPhones and Android devices and is available in sizes 6 through 13. Due to the new form factor, sizing differs from previous models, and the company provides a free sizing kit to ensure proper fit. Each model includes a size-specific charger and a USB-C cable, maintaining compatibility with existing accessories where applicable.

On the software front, the Ring 5 introduces several new tracking tools. These include a live activity mode for real-time workout and heart rate monitoring, as well as support for third-party heart rate monitors. The device also features GLP-1 tracking tools, addressing a growing area of interest in metabolic health. Additionally, Oura has announced Health Radar, a system designed to monitor nighttime breathing and blood pressure patterns for signs of potential health issues.

In a move to integrate artificial intelligence into its health ecosystem, Oura has partnered with Counsel Health to bring AI-assisted medical guidance to the app. This collaboration aims to provide users with more sophisticated insights derived from the data collected by the ring. However, it is noted that The Verge is still testing the Ring 5, implying that real-world performance may vary from announced specifications. The accuracy of the new Health Radar and AI-assisted medical guidance features has not been independently verified in the source text.

Access to the platform’s health insights requires an Oura membership, which costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year. The device is eligible for HSA and FSA reimbursement in the US. Alongside the ring, Oura is launching the Oura Ring 5 Charging Case, which supports wireless charging and can provide up to a month of battery life. The case features an action button for quick pairing and status checks, and is available for preorder at the same retailers as the ring.
