OpenAI acquires NextSlide to bolster ChatGPT development
Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed as the NextSlide team joins efforts to enhance the AI giant's core product.

OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a presentation technology startup, to integrate its team into the ongoing development of ChatGPT. The transaction was confirmed by NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry, who noted in a LinkedIn post that while the announcement is recent, the deal was completed earlier this year. Financial details of the acquisition have not been made public.
NextSlide specialised in converting prompts, notes, documents, and research into polished, editable presentations. According to the company’s website, the technology was designed to remove traditional design barriers, allowing users to create visual content without requiring extensive design experience or hours of manual work.
Beshry stated that the team founded NextSlide slightly more than a year ago with the aim of making visual communication more accessible. He emphasised that the goal was not merely to generate slides faster, but to help users express their ideas clearly and share research effectively.
Following the acquisition, Beshry confirmed that the NextSlide team is now at OpenAI, where they will continue to pursue the mission of building AI products that assist people in creating and communicating. He thanked users and supporters for their role in shaping the startup’s journey.
The acquisition follows a separate partnership between OpenAI and ReliaQuest, which joined the Daybreak Cyber Partner Program last month. This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in enterprise cyber defence, allowing ReliaQuest to collaborate technically with OpenAI and access its cyber models.
The original report detailing the acquisition was created and published by Verdict, a brand owned by GlobalData. The announcement comes amidst broader market activity, including the recent debut of SpaceX on the Nasdaq, though these events are unrelated to OpenAI’s strategic moves.
