Nvidia plans Australian AI infrastructure buildout of up to 2GW by 2027
The planned expansion with Australian cloud and infrastructure providers would deploy Nvidia’s DSX platform alongside its computing, networking and software products.
Nvidia has announced partnerships with Australian cloud providers and AI infrastructure companies to support a planned artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout of up to 2 gigawatts by 2027.
The initiative is intended to expand access to land, power and data-centre shell capacity for facilities built around Nvidia’s DSX AI factory platform. Nvidia is also expected to supply accelerated computing, networking, software and ecosystem support.
The company said the Australian project would address growing demand for AI computing while extending its role beyond supplying chips. DSX is compatible with Nvidia’s CUDA software ecosystem, which is used across AI workloads.
Yahoo Finance reported that the initiative forms part of Nvidia’s broader strategy to develop AI infrastructure with governments, cloud providers and other partners across regions including North America, Europe and Asia.
The 2GW figure is a planned maximum capacity, rather than operational capacity already in service. The timing and scale of deployment could depend on electricity supply, grid connections, approvals, construction and customer demand.
