Nvidia, Microsoft and Arm signal end of Qualcomm’s Windows on Arm monopoly

Nvidia, Microsoft and Arm have jointly teased the imminent arrival of Nvidia’s new N1X laptop processors, directing industry attention to the company’s keynote address at Computex in Taipei. The coordinated social media campaign, which included posts from the Windows and Nvidia GeForce accounts alongside Arm, featured the phrase “A new era of PC” accompanied by coordinates pointing to the event venue.
The teaser campaign sets the stage for Nvidia’s keynote scheduled for Sunday night at 8PM PT / 11PM ET, where the company is expected to officially announce its Arm-powered N1 and N1X chips. This development confirms long-standing speculation regarding Nvidia’s entry into the laptop processor market, a move that has been anticipated since rumours first circulated in 2023.
Nvidia’s entry into the Windows on Arm ecosystem represents a structural shift in the personal computing market. The announcement effectively ends Qualcomm’s exclusive licence for Microsoft’s Windows 11 Arm variant, a monopoly that has defined the sector for several years.
