Nvidia Acquires 9.3% Stake in AI Data Centre Operator Nebius
The investment follows a $2 billion US capital injection and coincides with broader industry consolidation, including Meta Platforms’ $27 billion US infrastructure agreement.

Shares in Nebius, an Amsterdam-based artificial intelligence data centre operator, rose 7% following the announcement that chipmaker Nvidia has acquired a 9.3% stake in the company. The transaction marks a significant escalation in Nvidia’s involvement with the firm, which is recognised as one of Europe’s leading providers of computing power for major United States technology giants.
Nvidia had previously invested $2 billion US in Nebius, establishing a financial foundation for the two firms to collaborate on artificial intelligence infrastructure, fleet management, inference capabilities, and factory design. The acquisition of the additional stake underscores the strategic alignment between the semiconductor leader and the data centre operator as demand for high-performance computing continues to accelerate.
The investment comes shortly after a long-term agreement signed in March by Meta Platforms, which committed to spending up to $27 billion US on Nebius’ AI infrastructure. This substantial capital commitment from one of the world’s largest social media and technology companies highlights the critical role Nebius plays in the global supply chain for artificial intelligence hardware and services.
Earlier in July, Nebius raised $775 million US in debt through a corporate bond sale, further bolstering its balance sheet ahead of these major infrastructure partnerships. The company’s financial momentum has been reflected in its stock performance, with shares gaining nearly 250% over the past 12 months and lifting its market capitalisation to $46 billion US.
So far in 2026, Nebius’ stock has risen 110%, trading at $196.52 US per share in New York. This performance occurs against a backdrop of broader market volatility, including significant declines in other tech giants such as IBM, which saw its stock drop 25% following revenue warnings, and the debut of the SpaceX initial public offering.
Nvidia’s move to secure a stake in Nebius is part of a wider strategy to invest in leading artificial intelligence companies. In recent months, the microchip giant has contributed $30 billion US to the most recent funding round of OpenAI and participated in Anthropic’s $30 billion US equity raise in February of this year, signalling a concerted effort to secure positions within the core of the AI ecosystem.
