Northview and Pace Softball Teams Secure Regional Playoff Advancements
Northview clinches back-to-back Final Four berths behind Mikayla McAnally’s pitching, while Pace advances to the Region 1-6A final.
Northview softball has secured a second consecutive Final Four appearance, defeating the Royals to advance in the regional playoffs. The Lady Chiefs (20-5) relied on a dominant performance from pitcher Mikayla McAnally, who recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed only one hit. The victory marks a significant step up from Northview’s first Final Four appearance in 2025, where they lost to Trenton in the Rural State championship game.
McAnally’s outing was marked by early offensive support and a moment of frustration regarding an unwritten rule. Northview scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, including a bases-loaded walk by Riley Brooks and a two-run single by Addysen Bolen. McAnally was reportedly annoyed when a spectator announced a perfect game during the sixth inning, although she ultimately allowed a hit and did not complete the perfect game.
Northview head coach Amy Holland praised McAnally’s ability to perform under pressure, noting the team’s rigorous schedule. Holland highlighted that the Lady Chiefs have faced some of the toughest competition in the Rural classification this season. The team aims to correct the preparation issues they identified after their 2025 loss, returning with a more experienced squad focused on reaching Longwood again.
Pace softball also advanced, reaching the Region 1-6A final after defeating their opponent. The Lady Bulldogs (24-4) are now one win away from a sixth straight Final Four appearance. Auburn commit Hannah DeMarcus pitched a complete game, striking out 14 batters and allowing three runs. Kamryn Pierce contributed a three-run home run in the second inning, helping Pace build a seven-run lead.
Weather conditions disrupted the remainder of the regional playoff schedule. The match between No. 3 Navarre and No. 2 Tocoi Creek was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Navarre leading 9-1. That game is scheduled to resume on Wednesday. Additionally, matches involving Gulf Breeze/Niceville and West Florida/Paxon have been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday. Pace is set to play the winner of the Navarre-Tocoi Creek contest in the Region 1-6A final on Thursday.
