Nintendo Confirms September 3 Launch for Switch 2 Exclusive Orbitals
The anime-inspired co-op game was revealed during Nintendo’s summer Direct presentation, with pre-orders now live on the eShop.

Nintendo has confirmed that Orbitals, a Switch 2 exclusive puzzle adventure published by Kepler Interactive, will launch on September 3. The release date was announced during the company’s summer Direct presentation on June 9, 2026, following an initial teaser in February that promised a summer window. Pre-orders for the title are now available via the Nintendo eShop.
Orbitals is described as a two-player experience where participants control intergalactic explorers attempting to save their home from a cosmic storm. The title features a '90s-inspired anime aesthetic and is designed to support both local and online co-op play. Notably, the game utilises the Switch 2’s GameShare feature, allowing two players to engage with the title using only a single purchased copy.
The announcement comes as Nintendo outlines its broader content strategy for the console. Alongside Orbitals, the summer Direct touched on upcoming franchise pipelines, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which is slated for a 2026 release without a specific date established. The next mainline Pokémon title is expected to follow in 2027.
Orbitals was first shown in February during a partner Direct presentation, where Nintendo initially indicated a summer release. The game has drawn comparisons to established co-op titles such as It Takes Two and Split Fiction, though these observations remain editorial assessments rather than official statements from Nintendo or Kepler Interactive.
The September 3 launch date positions Orbitals as a key early exclusive for the Switch 2, arriving before the potential gap in high-profile first-party content noted for the latter part of the year. Kepler Interactive continues to expand its portfolio with this release, targeting audiences seeking structured cooperative gameplay experiences.
