Seahawks and Broncos set for a rare uniform matchup in 2026: This almost never happens in the NFL
Throwback jerseys to feature in Thursday Night Football game in Denver

The National Football League has confirmed that the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will face each other in a Week 6 "Thursday Night Football" game on October 15, 2026, in Denver. The fixture will feature a rare uniform configuration, with both teams wearing coloured throwback jerseys, resulting in a colour-versus-colour matchup that deviates from the standard league norm where at least one team typically wears white.

The Broncos have announced they will don their Orange Crush throwback uniforms for the contest. Since the introduction of these throwbacks in 2024, the team has worn them five times, maintaining a perfect 5-0 record. The Seahawks will wear a royal blue jersey with silver helmets, a design originating from the 1990s. This specific uniform was worn three times during the Seahawks’ Super Bowl-winning season in 2025 and will make its 2026 debut in this Denver fixture.

This matchup marks the second time since the start of the 2024 season that the NFL has featured a colour-versus-colour uniform game. The previous instance occurred in Week 15 of the 2025 season, when the Atlanta Falcons wore black against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who wore their Creamsicle jerseys. Prior to that, a colour-versus-colour game took place in Week 8 of the 2023 season, featuring the Falcons in black against the Tennessee Titans in baby blue Oilers uniforms.

The Broncos-Seahawks game will be only the fourth time since the start of the 2021 season that a colour-versus-colour game has occurred where neither team wore a Color Rush uniform. The league previously experimented with colour-versus-colour themes during the Color Rush years from 2015 to 2018. If black is excluded from the definition of colour, this matchup represents the first true colour-versus-colour game in four years, with the last such occurrence being the Chicago Bears versus Dallas Cowboys game in Week 8 of the 2022 season.

The Seahawks will wear these throwback jerseys in back-to-back games, facing the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. However, the Broncos game is the only fixture in that stretch to feature the rare colour-versus-colour configuration. The choice of uniforms is historically fitting, as the Seahawks and Broncos were division rivals in the AFC West from 1977 through 2001, renewing an old rivalry through the lens of their shared divisional history.
