Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, confirming the series will premiere on June 25. The footage highlights the character Toph, depicting her teaching Aang, and serves as a preview for a season that follows the narrative structure of the original animated series.

The platform has also released a version of the trailer with audio descriptions, a move likely intended to accommodate Toph’s visual impairment. The second season is described as a one-to-one remake of the original cartoon, maintaining the story beats established in the source material. The series has already been renewed for a third and final season.

The live-action adaptation premiered over two years ago and has been generally well-received compared to previous iterations. The first season was noted as being surprisingly watchable, though not on par with the original animated series, and significantly better than M. Night Shyamalan’s 2009 film adaptation.

Franchise creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are not involved with the Netflix production following a rocky development period. They are currently developing new projects set in the Avatar universe, including an animated series for Nickelodeon and a feature-length animated film titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

The animated film, which depicts the characters as adults, is scheduled to hit streaming platforms in October. Footage of the movie was leaked online last month by a hacker who has since been arrested. The suspect stated he leaked the film because it was a Paramount+ project and intended to troll the platform.
