Peacock, the NBCUniversal video streaming service, is promoting various subscription discounts and promotional bundles to retain subscribers in a crowded market.

Peacock, the NBCUniversal video streaming service, is offering various subscription discounts and promotional bundles. Key offers include an annual Premium plan for $80 (a 16% saving), reduced rates for students, teachers, and military personnel, and bundled deals with Xfinity Internet and Walmart+ memberships. The service also highlights its content library, including sports coverage such as the NBA, NFL, and MLB, as well as original programming and reality TV shows.
The primary promotional push centres on the annual Premium plan, priced at $80, which represents a 16% saving compared to the standard monthly rate. This annual option allows subscribers to pay for 12 months at the cost of 10, effectively reducing the monthly equivalent to $9. For context, the standard monthly rate for the Premium tier is $11. The service also offers a Premium Plus tier, which removes advertisements and allows for offline downloads, priced at $17 per month or $14 when paid annually.
To broaden its appeal across different demographics, Peacock has introduced reduced subscription rates for specific groups. Eligible college students and young adults aged 18 to 24 can access 12 months of Peacock Premium for $3 a month. Similarly, teachers, military personnel, medical workers, and other first responders can qualify for a rate of $4 per month for the same duration, provided they verify their status.
Strategic partnerships are also driving the company’s current promotional strategy. Peacock has secured bundled deals with Xfinity Internet and Walmart+ memberships. Through Xfinity, customers can bundle Peacock with other services like Netflix and Apple TV+, with specific bundles starting at $15 per month. Additionally, active Walmart+ members can receive Peacock Premium with ads at no extra cost through the Walmart+ Benefits Hub.
The promotional efforts are underpinned by a content library that includes significant sports coverage and original programming. Peacock holds rights to the NBA, NFL, and MLB, including Sunday Night Football and regular-season NBA games. The service also features original hits such as The Office and Poker Face, alongside reality TV staples like Love Island, aiming to compete with industry titans like Netflix and Hulu.
