YouTube Premium will include Peacock starting next year
Streaming giant’s multi-year deal targets 125 million subscribers as Peacock reports first quarterly profit

NBCUniversal has announced a multi-year agreement to integrate the Peacock streaming service into YouTube Premium subscriptions, with the bundle set to launch in 2027. The deal allows the platform’s 125 million Premium subscribers to access Peacock’s ad-supported TV shows, movies, and live sports directly through the YouTube app.

The standard YouTube Premium plan, which increased to $15.99 per month in April, will include the service as part of its standard offering. This bundled rate is lower than subscribing to both platforms individually, as Peacock’s ad-supported plan currently starts at $10.99 per month. The announcement was made on Monday by NBCUniversal, confirming the details with media outlets.

Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal’s media group, stated that the agreement aims to boost Peacock’s next phase of growth by bringing the service to millions of new subscribers. The move coincides with a pivotal period for the streaming service, which recently reported its first quarterly profit. Peacock currently holds 48 million subscribers in the US, according to Comcast’s most recent earnings report.

As part of the broader arrangement, NBCUniversal will stream a selection of live sporting events on YouTube. The company is also extending its existing distribution agreement with YouTube TV. This integration occurs as Peacock separates from Comcast’s broadband business, alongside NBCUniversal and Sky, marking a structural shift in how the media group operates its streaming assets.

The specific selection of live sporting events included in the bundle has not been detailed, nor has the exact implementation timeline within 2027 been specified. It remains unclear if the bundle will include Peacock’s premium ad-free tier or only the ad-supported version, though the current terms specify access to ad-supported content.

YouTube revealed in 2025 that it had 125 million Premium and Music subscribers globally. The inclusion of Peacock content is expected to add significant value to the YouTube Premium proposition, potentially driving retention and acquisition in a competitive streaming market. The deal underscores the growing trend of bundling streaming services to offer consumers lower costs and consolidated access to content.

The partnership highlights NBCUniversal’s strategy to leverage YouTube’s massive user base to expand Peacock’s reach beyond its current subscriber count. By integrating the service directly into the YouTube app, the company aims to simplify the user experience and reduce friction for subscribers accessing entertainment content.
