Peacock’s Premium plan to integrate into YouTube experience from early 2027

NBCUniversal and YouTube have announced a multi-year global strategic partnership to integrate Peacock’s Premium plan into the YouTube experience. Effective in the United States from early 2027, the agreement allows YouTube Premium subscribers to access Peacock’s full content lineup, including live sports and television series, without leaving the platform. This integration positions YouTube as a broader hub for streaming, combining premium television, live sports, and creator content in a single interface.

The partnership represents a distinct strategic direction for NBCUniversal, which is prioritising distribution partnerships over the mergers and acquisitions currently dominating the media sector. While rivals such as Paramount Skydance and Fox pursue consolidation through deals like the Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition and the purchase of Roku, NBCUniversal is focusing on placing its content where audiences are already active. This approach follows previous distribution agreements with Amazon and Apple, with the YouTube deal representing the company’s most significant effort to date.

The rollout will occur in phases. Starting later this summer, Peacock Premium, the ad-supported plan priced at $10.99 per month, will be available as a separate add-on subscription through YouTube Primetime Channels. This follows the availability of Peacock Premium Plus, which has been accessible via the same channels since late June. The full integration for YouTube Premium subscribers is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in early 2027.

Beyond the United States, the agreement extends to international markets through NBCUniversal’s streaming services, Universal+ and Hayu. These services will become available through YouTube Premium in select markets, although specific jurisdictions have not yet been disclosed. The move supports YouTube’s broader strategy to strengthen its Premium offering by adding another major entertainment service, potentially increasing the value proposition for subscribers in a competitive landscape.

The announcement coincides with positive financial performance for Peacock, which reported its first-ever quarterly profit in the second quarter of 2026. The streaming service currently boasts 48 million paid subscribers. The deal comes as media giants seek new growth avenues while competing with platforms like YouTube and TikTok, which continue to capture significant consumer viewing time. By leveraging its existing distribution network, NBCUniversal aims to stabilise its position in an evolving digital media environment.
