Morisco’s Brazil call-up arrives ahead of his expectations
The 22-year-old Coritiba goalkeeper had expected to spend 2026 building experience before a possible national-team selection in a year or two.
Pedro Morisco said his first call-up to Brazil’s national team came sooner than he anticipated. Speaking to CBF TV, the 22-year-old goalkeeper said he had planned to use 2026 to gain experience in his first full season as a Série A starter.
Morisco said he had thought a selection might come “in a year or two”. Instead, he said, the call-up itself was a surprise and being noticed was already an achievement.
The goalkeeper credited Coritiba with helping him reach the national team. He said the club had been organising itself and raising expectations of its players over the past two years, and that he owed much of his opportunity to the club.
The supplied Yahoo Sports account says Morisco spent the previous two years in Série B, won the 2025 title with Coritiba and has made more than 100 appearances for the club.
Cruzeiro goalkeeper Otávio, aged 20, is also described in the account as a first-time call-up to Brazil’s squad.
