Miller sees Fever built for pressure as WNBA expands broadcast reach

WNBA legend Cheryl Miller has identified the Indiana Fever as a team capable of handling intense scrutiny, noting they have a "target on their back" following their 87-78 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. Speaking during a media availability ahead of the league’s new broadcast partnership, Miller praised the Fever’s foundational identity and roster depth, suggesting the squad is prepared for the high expectations that come with early-season success.

The win improved Indiana’s record to 1-1, with Caitlin Clark leading the charge with 24 points and Kelsey Mitchell contributing 23. Miller, a Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer, emphasised that the team’s strength lies in their clear core philosophy. "They know who they are," Miller stated, adding that the roster is "deep" and built to withstand the growing pressure surrounding the franchise.

Miller specifically commended Clark for her composure, noting that the star guard allowed the game to flow rather than forcing the spotlight. This assessment comes as the WNBA prepares for a significant media expansion, with the league debuting on NBC and Peacock this weekend. Miller is set to join Sue Bird as an analyst for the new coverage package, which launches Sunday with a national doubleheader.
