Microsoft targets corporate fleets with new business-focused Surface devices
Pricing starts at $1,300 for the 13-inch Surface Laptop for Business and $1,950 for the 13-inch Surface Pro for Business, with availability beginning 19 May 2026 in select markets.

Microsoft has unveiled new iterations of its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lines, specifically engineered for corporate environments and powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. The announcement signals a strategic push into enterprise hardware, introducing features such as an optional integrated privacy screen with anti-glare technology on the Surface Laptop and an advanced haptic feedback system designed for both the trackpad and the Surface Slim Pen 2.
The devices are priced for organisational procurement rather than individual consumers. The 13-inch Surface Laptop for Business starts at $1,300, while the 13-inch Surface Pro for Business begins at $1,950. Larger configurations of the Surface Laptop, including 13.8-inch and 15-inch models, also start at $1,950. All models are scheduled for release in select markets from 19 May 2026.
A key differentiator for the new Surface Laptop is the optional integrated privacy screen, which Microsoft describes as a first for the Surface brand. The feature can be toggled via a single keyboard button and is designed to prevent side-on viewing while still permitting limited collaboration. Microsoft claims the new hardware delivers up to 35 percent more graphics performance than the MacBook Air with the M5 chip, alongside estimated battery life of up to 23 hours for the Laptop and 17 hours for the Pro.
The hardware also introduces Microsoft’s Advanced Haptics, a system-level interaction language that provides tactile signals with a target response time of under 50 milliseconds. This system extends to pen input, with the Surface Slim Pen 2 featuring a haptic motor to deliver distinct tactile cues for supported actions. Third-party applications, including Wondershare Filmora and Concepts, already support these haptic features.
Both devices are built to process artificial intelligence on-device and include security features aimed at IT administrators. The Surface Pro for Business offers additional connectivity options, including an optional 5G radio. Microsoft’s keyboard accessory for the Surface Pro is also designed to communicate with the tablet wirelessly, enhancing versatility for mobile workforces.
