Microsoft Comes Through With the Best Laptop Deal of Prime Day So Far
The 2024 model drops to $835, offering a significant discount despite broader market price hikes

Microsoft has reduced the price of its Surface Laptop to $835 for Prime Day, marking a 38 per cent discount on the 2024 model. The reduction makes the device $515 cheaper than its recent selling price, presenting a notable exception to the general upward trend in laptop pricing observed throughout the year.

The offer is strictly limited to a single configuration featuring 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Consumers are unable to select alternative colours or increased storage capacities under this deal. Microsoft has not indicated whether other configurations will see similar reductions during the promotional period.

This discount comes shortly after the release of a newer Surface Laptop model equipped with Snapdragon X2 chips. That newer variant, which launched only weeks prior to the Prime Day event, costs nearly twice as much as the discounted 2024 model. The price gap highlights the value proposition of the older hardware, which retains a chassis design nearly identical to its successor.

The 2024 Surface Laptop features a 3:2 aspect ratio display with a 120-Hz refresh rate. This specification provides more vertical screen real estate compared to standard 16:10 laptops and includes a refresh rate that the MacBook Air does not offer. The device also retains the thin profile, haptic feedback trackpad, and keyboard design characteristic of the newer release.

While the source material describes the device as offering solid performance and long-lasting battery life, the deal excludes options for higher storage tiers. Buyers seeking more than 256 GB of storage would need to pay hundreds of dollars more, as the $835 price point applies exclusively to the specified base configuration.
