Microsoft sets Windows and Surface event focused on local AI
The San Francisco event will examine how local artificial intelligence could shape the next stage of personal computing, with senior Microsoft and Nvidia executives expected to attend.
Microsoft will hold a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on 7 October, centred on how local artificial intelligence will shape the future of personal computers.
Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri are expected to attend, along with Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang, according to The Verge.
The event will be Microsoft’s first major Windows gathering since May 2024, when the company unveiled Arm-based Copilot Plus PCs and renewed its partnership with Qualcomm. Before that, Microsoft’s previous major Windows event was held in June 2021, when it announced Windows 11.
The Verge expects the company to discuss Windows quality improvements and future developments. Huang’s planned appearance could also point to discussion of RTX Spark PCs, although Microsoft has not confirmed the event’s product focus.
No announcement of Windows 12 has been confirmed. The Verge will provide live coverage from San Francisco.
