Microsoft hints at new Surface hardware and Nvidia partnership ahead of Build
Executives signal a "new era of PC" with imagery of curved displays, setting the stage for keynotes at Computex and Microsoft’s Build conference next week.

Microsoft executives have issued a series of teasers pointing to significant hardware announcements in the coming days, signalling what the company describes as "a new era of PC." The hints, shared by Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri, suggest that the tech giant is preparing to unveil new Surface devices and potentially deepen its ties with Nvidia.
Davuluri posted an image featuring a curved display edge alongside a message stating that "something new is coming for developers." Crucially, he clarified that the upcoming news does not involve a new operating system version, effectively ruling out the possibility of a Windows 12 announcement at Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference.
The official Windows account on X reinforced the message with a similar teaser, promising the new era of PC while including coordinates that point to Taipei, the host city for the Computex trade show. This geographical clue aligns with Nvidia’s scheduled keynote at Computex on Sunday, 31 May, followed by Microsoft’s own Build keynote on Tuesday, 2 June.
Industry speculation suggests the hardware announcements may centre on a partnership between Microsoft and Nvidia for Windows on Arm processors. Nvidia is rumoured to be entering the Windows on Arm market with its N1 and N1X chips, and a collaboration would provide a logical foundation for next-generation Surface devices.
While the exact specifications of the new hardware remain unconfirmed, the timing of the teasers indicates that investors and developers should expect detailed revelations during the upcoming keynotes. The events in Taipei and at Build are expected to clarify the nature of the hardware and the extent of the potential Nvidia integration.
