Facebook rolls out an AI companion app for creators
Facebook tests new tool to help creators grow audiences and reduce reliance on third-party generative AI

Facebook has announced the launch of a standalone AI companion app, repositioning its Creator Studio tool to assist content creators in growing their audiences on the social network. The application is currently being tested with a select group of creators, integrating Facebook’s recently launched AI creator assistant to provide personalised recommendations based on content style, performance metrics, and audience engagement.

The platform aims to streamline the workflow for creators who previously had to navigate complex charts and dashboards to understand their performance. Through the integrated assistant, users can pose conversational questions regarding optimal posting times and comment sentiment, with the ability to ask follow-up queries about audience shifts over time. This shift represents a broader effort by Meta to reduce creators' reliance on external generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, for brainstorming and performance analysis.

Beyond the conversational assistant, the app features an AI-powered comment management tool designed to surface important comments and draft replies in the creator’s specific tone. Creators retain full control, able to edit and approve these drafted responses before they are posted. Upon opening the application daily, users are presented with a feed of priorities, including reviews of new post performance, progress tracking against set goals, and flags for comments requiring a response.

This release aligns with Meta’s wider strategy to retain creator attention against competitors like TikTok and YouTube. The launch follows a recent wave of standalone app releases from the company, including Forum, a dedicated app for Facebook Groups, and Instants, which facilitates the sharing of disappearing photos with Instagram friends.

The expansion of Meta’s application portfolio is supported by internal reports on operational efficiency. The New York Times reported that Meta is developing an internal application codenamed “Arena,” described as similar to the prediction market Polymarket, though it has not yet launched. Additionally, the Wall Street Journal reported that CEO Mark Zuckerberg has informed employees that AI-driven efficiencies will enable the company to build more applications than in previous years.
