Meta launches global Instagram Plus subscription at $3.99 monthly
The social media giant has officially rolled out the Instagram Plus service worldwide, following previous announcements regarding subscription models across its digital properties.

Meta has officially launched the Instagram Plus subscription service globally, marking a significant expansion into paid social media tiers. Priced at $3.99 per month, the new offering provides users with a suite of tools designed to help them reach wider or more specific audiences. The rollout follows Meta’s announcement last month regarding plans to introduce subscription options across several of its social media properties.
The core of the Instagram Plus package focuses on content visibility and audience management. Subscribers gain access to Story Spotlight, a feature that prioritises a user’s profile for their friends, and Story Extend, which increases the visibility window for disappearing content from 24 to 48 hours. The service also allows users to create multiple audience lists, enabling them to select exactly which group views a particular story.
Beyond visibility, the subscription includes enhanced analytics and search capabilities. Paying users can preview stories, view statistics on how often their content is rewatched, and search for specific individuals who have viewed their stories. The tier also offers publishing flexibility, allowing users to post directly to their profile or highlights to exclude content from the main feed.
Profile customisation is another key component of the service. Subscribers can choose from a collection of app icons and select specific text fonts for their bios. Additional personalisation options include the ability to pin six items to the top of a user’s profile and send animated super hearts when reacting to friends’ stories.
Meta stated that the current feature set is not final, noting that more capabilities will be added in the coming months. While the company has not provided a specific timeline for these updates, the global launch establishes the baseline offering for the $3.99 monthly tier.
