Lucid Motors executive Emad Dlala departs as new CEO Silvio Napoli reshapes leadership
Senior vice president of engineering and digital leaves the electric vehicle maker shortly after his promotion, marking a key shift in executive structure under the incoming chief executive.

Emad Dlala, the senior vice president of engineering and digital at Lucid Motors, has departed the company, confirming the first major executive exit since Silvio Napoli was appointed chief executive officer. Dlala’s departure follows a broader organisational transformation initiated by Napoli, who formally assumed the CEO role last week after a year-long search that began following the sudden departure of Peter Rawlinson in early 2025.
Lucid Motors confirmed the exit in a statement to TechCrunch, describing the move as part of an effort to accelerate innovation and strengthen execution under the new leadership. The company stated that Dlala elected to leave to pursue other opportunities, thanking him for his contributions over his more than decade-long tenure. During his time at the firm, Dlala served as vice president and later senior vice president of the powertrain team before being elevated in November to oversee all engineering and digital functions.
As part of the restructuring, Vivek Attaluri, the vice president of vehicle engineering, and Marc Solsona Palomar, the vice president of software, will now report directly to Napoli. This realignment comes shortly after Lucid laid off 12 per cent of its workforce in February and followed the November departure of long-time chief engineer Eric Bach, who has since filed a wrongful termination lawsuit that is currently stayed pending arbitration.
Napoli, who previously held various leadership positions at the Schindler Group, an escalator and elevator manufacturer, joins the company as it prepares for a critical phase in its commercial strategy. The executive changes coincide with the upcoming launch of the Cosmos, Lucid’s first mass-market vehicle built on a mid-sized platform and priced below $50,000.
The Cosmos is a cornerstone of Lucid’s strategic partnership with Uber and autonomous vehicle developer Nuro. Under the agreement, Lucid is developing robotaxis starting with the Gravity SUV, which is scheduled to launch in San Francisco by the end of 2026. The company indicated it would communicate further actions regarding its organisational structure soon.
