LSU leaves former NFL players off Clemson roster despite court ruling

LSU has left former NFL players Zxavian Harris and Dae’Quan Wright off its submitted roster for the Week 1 game against Clemson, despite a Louisiana court ruling that allows them to pursue additional college eligibility.
The decision, reported by Yahoo Sports and The Sporting News, means neither player will feature in LSU’s season opener. LSU submitted a 103-player roster, reportedly leaving two places available for possible additions later in the season.
The court order prevents the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference from punishing the named players if they compete. It does not require LSU to roster or play either athlete, leaving the final decision with the university.
The ruling follows legal disputes involving LSU, coach Lane Kiffin, the SEC and the NCAA over whether former professional players can return to college football. The SEC has pursued legal action against LSU and Kiffin over the issue.
Harris and Wright previously played college football at Ole Miss and had recently been on NFL rosters. Their eventual status remains uncertain while the legal proceedings continue, although reports indicate LSU could add them later.
