Liverpool monitor Benfica winger amid competing European interest
The 22-year-old Norway international is valued at €30m, with Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Como also in the frame.

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Benfica and Norway international Andreas Schjelderup, according to Italian media outlets. The 22-year-old winger is valued at approximately €30m (£25.8m), a figure that represents double the fee Benfica paid to sign him from Nordsjaelland in January 2023.
The interest emerges as Schjelderup represents his country at the World Cup, having come off the bench in victories against Iraq and Senegal to help Norway progress to the knockout stages. His recent performances have drawn attention from several major European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Como.
Tuttomercatoweb reported that Liverpool are following the player’s progress. Schjelderup recorded 10 goals and seven assists in 43 appearances for Benfica last season, including two goals in a 4-2 Champions League victory over Real Madrid. Analysts have highlighted his dribbling ability, chance creation and work rate in pressing as key attributes.
The potential move comes as Liverpool have already secured winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna and agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. The club currently lists Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Munoz as senior left-sided options, though Munoz is also capable of operating on the right flank.
Schjelderup previously turned down a move to Liverpool as a teenager, opting instead for Nordsjaelland to aid his career development. It remains unclear whether the club will pursue the winger further given their recent signings and existing squad depth, with speculation pointing towards a possible 2026 window for any potential transfer.
