Liverpool assesses goalkeeper reinforcements amid Alisson Becker-Juventus link
Reports suggest the Premier League champions are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Chevalier and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez as potential successors to Alisson Becker.

Liverpool are evaluating potential replacements for Alisson Becker, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain despite a contract extension signed recently that ties him to the club until 2027. Transfer speculation linking the 33-year-old Brazilian to Juventus has intensified, with the Italian club reportedly adamant about securing the goalkeeper.
Juventus, now managed by Luciano Spalletti, who previously coached Alisson at Roma, are prepared to offer a lucrative “2+1” deal comprising two guaranteed years with an option for a third. While the Turin club would ideally prefer a free transfer, reports from *Tutto Juve* indicate a potential fee of €10m could be involved. This development places Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes in a position where he may need to compromise on transfer costs to retain his starting goalkeeper.
Concurrently, Liverpool are actively identifying reinforcements for the number one spot. Reports indicate that Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier is high on the Reds’ list of targets. The 24-year-old French international joined PSG from Lille for approximately €40m last summer but has struggled for playing time under coach Luis Enrique, ceding his place to Matvey Safanov.
Despite having a contract until 2030, Chevalier’s limited opportunities at the French club have made him available for a move. Liverpool scouts have long monitored the situation, viewing the 2001-born player as a viable option to succeed Alisson. The prospect of acquiring a player of his profile aligns with the club’s desire to secure a proven competitor rather than relying solely on internal options.
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is also identified as a potential target. With Villa in need of a significant sale this summer, the Argentina World Cup winner is expected to be made available. Liverpool recruiters have rated Martinez highly for his leadership and personality, viewing him as a strong contender for the starting role.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, already at Liverpool, is viewed as unlikely to succeed Alisson without significant competition. Decision-makers at the club are reportedly uncomfortable with the prospect of relying solely on the Georgian goalkeeper. Consequently, the incoming summer window is expected to feature intense competition for the starting position, with both Chevalier and Martinez emerging as key figures in the club’s strategic planning.
