Lions sign new WR after injury forces roster move
Detroit signs undrafted free agent Kyre Duplessis to replace rookie Kendrick Law

The Detroit Lions have signed undrafted wide receiver Kyre Duplessis to the roster, a move necessitated by a season-ending injury to rookie Kendrick Law. Law, a fifth-round draft pick, tore his anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the entire season, according to confirmation from head coach Dan Campbell earlier in the week.

Duplessis, who played college football at Coastal Carolina for four seasons before finishing his NCAA career at Delaware in 2025, brings recent production to the team. During his time at Delaware, he recorded 60 receptions for 824 yards and five touchdowns. The signing provides the undrafted free agent with an opportunity to compete for a roster spot or a position on the practice squad.

The wide receiver room presents a challenging environment for Duplessis to establish himself. The depth chart features established veterans such as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, both of whom possess significant NFL experience. Isaac TeSlaa is expected to hold the WR3 role, while the back end of the unit has seen changes with the additions of Cedrick Wilson and Greg Dortch.

Supporting the core group are returning players Jackson Meek and Tom Kennedy, alongside Dominic Lovett and Malik Cunningham on the deeper end of the depth chart. The Lions’ decision to add Duplessis reflects a need to maintain depth across the position group following the loss of Law.

While making the final 53-man roster is described as an uphill climb, Duplessis has secured a chance to prove his value. The move ensures the Lions retain a viable option to develop talent within the wide receiver corps as they navigate the remainder of the season.
