Regular season finale approaches as West A district seeding remains in play

The Libby Loggers split a Legion baseball doubleheader against the Glacier Twins on Wednesday, July 17, 2026, in a series that will influence their standing ahead of the postseason. The Loggers, currently holding a 12-16 record, faced the 8-23 Glacier Twins in a back-and-forth contest that saw significant momentum shifts in both games.

In the opening matchup, the Loggers established an early eight-run advantage, taking the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a passed ball. However, the Glacier Twins mounted a decisive comeback, scoring nine consecutive runs to seize control. Key contributions from Derek Juntunen, Mason Muller, and Travis Banks in the third inning helped Glacier plate five runs, followed by two more from Trenton DeRosa in the fourth.

Despite a five-run rally in the fifth inning, capped by a two-run double from Boe Miles, and a sixth-inning lead provided by Ian Thom’s sacrifice bunt, the Loggers could not hold the advantage. Glacier regained the lead in the seventh on a passed ball, and Muller secured the 12-11 victory for the visiting team.

The Loggers responded in the second game with a structured offensive performance. Libby took a 3-2 lead in the first inning on a single by Miles and extended their advantage to 6-3 through bases-loaded walks and an error. Glacier narrowed the gap to 6-5 in the fifth on a single by Kiernan RK, but Libby added an insurance run in the same inning as Dalton Cannon scored on a fly ball by Noah Gillespie.

Mason Crowe sealed the 10-6 win for Libby with a two-run single in the sixth inning. The Loggers now conclude their regular season with home doubleheaders this weekend, hosting the Bitterroot Red Sox on Saturday and Missoula on Sunday, with start times set for 1 p.m. on both days.

The results from this weekend will determine Libby’s seed and first-round opponent for the West A district tournament, scheduled for July 23-26 in Hamilton.
