Lenovo Googlebook 15 leak points to premium hardware ahead of Google preview
The reported Android laptop specifications include a 120Hz OLED touchscreen, Intel Core Ultra 5 processor and up to 32GB of RAM.
Lenovo’s Googlebook 15 has reportedly been detailed in a leak ahead of Google’s expected preview of its first Googlebooks on 15 September.
Engadget, citing MacObserver, reported that the laptop could feature a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,880 × 1,800 resolution and peak brightness of up to 500 nits.
The device is also reportedly set to use an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, with configurations offering either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage. A multicoloured LED strip, described as a “glowbar”, is also reported to be included.
Googlebooks are a forthcoming Android-based laptop platform intended to sit above Google’s Chromebook range. The reported Lenovo specifications would exceed the baseline requirements of Google’s Chromebook Plus initiative, which included 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and an Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 700-series processor.
Google has promoted Gemini-related features for the platform, including Magic Cursor, which turns the mouse cursor into a contextual prompting tool. Lenovo and Google have not confirmed the reported specifications, while pricing, availability and the final product name remain unknown.
ChromeUnboxed has reported that Google will host a media event on 15 September to preview the first Googlebooks. An official launch is scheduled for later this year, according to the supplied material.
