A trailer for an in-development BioWare Mass Effect sequel has surfaced on Reddit, showing footage labelled as in-game material made with pre-production assets. The account that posted it claimed to belong to an Electronic Arts employee.

The trailer ends with the title “Mass Effect: Universe”. It appears to feature Liara T’Soni and a male protagonist, but does not confirm the character’s identity or whether the title was final.

Engadget reported that Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier separately confirmed the footage was genuine. The outlet also reported that EA indicated development would not continue after BioWare’s closure.

BioWare first teased more Mass Effect in 2020. Its last new entry in the series was Mass Effect: Andromeda, released in 2017.

The leaked footage offers a glimpse of planned content, but does not establish the sequel’s full story or whether it would have reached release.
