Knicks secure first NBA Finals berth since 1999 with Eastern Conference sweep
Jalen Brunson named MVP as Knicks extend postseason winning streak to 11 games ahead of June 3 Finals opener

The New York Knicks have secured their first NBA Finals appearance in 27 years after routing the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 to complete a four-game sweep of the Eastern Conference finals. The decisive victory, reported by ESPN, ends a long drought for the franchise and sets up a championship series commencing on June 3.
Jalen Brunson was unanimously voted the Eastern Conference finals MVP, capping a dominant postseason performance. Brunson scored 15 points in the final game, contributing to a Knicks squad that extended its winning streak to 11 consecutive playoff games. The team became only the fourth to achieve this feat in the current playoffs, following a similar run by Golden State in 2017.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while OG Anunoby added 17 points. Landry Shamet provided a significant spark off the bench with 16 points, including crucial three-pointers that helped New York maintain control. The Knicks led by as many as 45 points in the fourth quarter, with their largest halftime lead reaching 19 points.
Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points, but the Cavaliers were unable to withstand New York’s offensive surge. The sweep marks the first time Cleveland has been eliminated in a four-game series since the 2018 NBA Finals. The Knicks now await the winner of the Western Conference finals, where the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are tied at two games apiece ahead of Game 5 in Oklahoma City.
The Finals opponent will hold home-court advantage due to a superior regular-season record. This marks the third time the Knicks have reached the NBA Finals since their last title in 1973, with head coach Mike Brown making his second trip to the championship series.
