New York Jets training camp operations were suspended for 10 minutes on Tuesday after cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers collapsed on the sideline during a joint practice session with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The incident prompted an immediate response from team medical personnel, who administered an intravenous treatment on the field before Stiggers was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that Stiggers remained conscious and was able to speak following the collapse. While the team has not released a specific medical diagnosis, Glenn emphasised the effectiveness of the on-field medical response. He stated that he intended to visit Stiggers in hospital to ensure he was recovering well and expressed gratitude for the steps taken by the medical staff to manage the situation.
The halt in proceedings occurred ahead of Stiggers’ third year in the National Football League. Selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Stiggers made history as the first player drafted directly from the Canadian Football League since 1999. Prior to joining the Jets, he spent one season in the CFL, where he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Rookie, and played one year in the Fan Controlled Football league. He did not play college football.
Stiggers established himself as a key contributor during his previous seasons, appearing in 29 games over his first two years in the league. In the 2025 season, he started four games for New York, recording career highs across all statistical categories. His contributions included 27 tackles, one tackle for loss, three pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries, while serving as both a backup cornerback and a regular on special teams.
