JetBrains releases YouTrackDB graph database

JetBrains has released YouTrackDB, a general-use object-oriented graph database engineered with a storage format native to handling graph relations. The software supports Gremlin queries and ACID transactions, and is currently used internally in production by JetBrains.
The project is available for deployment as an embedded database via Maven or as a server using Docker. It runs on any platform without configuration or installation requirements. Users can experiment with the database using a provided REPL console, while a Getting Started guide and examples project cover both server and embedded deployments.
For embedded use, developers must add the youtrackdb-embedded artifact to their Maven project. This shaded uber-jar relocates third-party dependencies, including Guava, Jackson, and Groovy, under com.jetbrains.youtrackdb.shade to prevent version conflicts. A YTDB snapshot repository must also be added to the Maven pom.xml file.
Server deployment involves starting the Docker image and providing a root password in a secrets/root_password file. The project is hosted on GitHub under the JetBrains organisation, with contributors invited to join the Zulip community for discussion and support.
YouTrackDB follows a structured development workflow involving research, design, plan review, track-by-track implementation, and review. New contributors can learn to run the software end-to-end through a development workflow book, starting with Chapter 1.
