Jayson Tatum’s new Jordan shoe marks the impact of his Achilles injury
The Tatum 5 features five heel lines that Tatum says represent the scar from his 2025 surgery and the changes brought by his recovery.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has unveiled the Jordan Brand Tatum 5, a signature shoe shaped by his recovery from a ruptured right Achilles.
The shoe features five lines across the right heel. Tatum said at a Jordan event, as reported by Yahoo Sports and Complex, that the design acknowledges the scar left by his Achilles surgery.
The Tatum 5 also includes a strap across the laces and is designed to look different from Tatum’s earlier Jordan models. He said the changes reflect how the injury altered him.
Tatum ruptured his Achilles in May 2025 and reportedly returned to the court in March 2026. The Celtics then lost Game 7 to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2026 NBA playoffs.
With the 2026–27 NBA season scheduled to begin on 20 October, Tatum said he had learned to appreciate what the injury taught him, rather than the injury itself.
