Investors allege securities fraud in lawsuit against Selena Gomez over Wondermind
A civil complaint accuses the actress and her mother of misrepresenting finances and failing to build the promised app, seeking recovery of funds and legal costs.

Investors have initiated legal proceedings against Selena Gomez and her mother, alleging securities fraud and breach of contract in relation to the mental health technology startup, Wondermind. The plaintiffs, who claim to have invested approximately $1.2 million, accuse Gomez of failing to develop or market the application despite prior commitments, and of misrepresenting the company’s financial standing and her level of involvement.
The complaint, which was first reported by Forbes, outlines a series of alleged failures by the company’s leadership. According to the filing, Gomez purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform specific duties but subsequently ignored it. The lawsuit states that promised partnerships did not exist, initiatives never materialised, and the app was never built.
The plaintiffs allege that for three years, while the company collapsed, none of the founders, officers, or directors communicated with the investors whose capital was funding the operation. The complaint asserts that Gomez and Wondermind misrepresented the company’s finances and overstated the extent of the actress’s involvement in the venture.
Wondermind launched in 2021 with the aim of offering daily mental health resources to users. The lawsuit claims that investors remained unaware of the company’s difficulties until a September 2025 story from The Cut uncovered the issues. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover their invested capital and associated legal fees.
Wondermind did not respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations. The claims regarding the failure to build the app, non-existent partnerships, and financial misrepresentation are allegations made by the plaintiffs and have not been proven in court.
