Inter Milan secure 21st Scudetto with victory over Parma

Inter Milan have officially secured the 2025-26 Serie A championship by defeating Parma 2-0 on Sunday. The victory officially crowned the Nerazzurri as Italian league champions for the 21st time, ending the season with a decisive result rather than relying on the draw that would have been mathematically sufficient to guarantee the title.

The triumph marks a significant institutional rebound for the club, achieved under new head coach Cristian Chivu. Chivu, who was appointed in the summer to replace Simone Inzaghi following the latter's move to Al-Hilal, guided the team to the title after a challenging summer characterised by their defeat to PSG in the 2025 Champions League final.

Chivu's appointment represented a strategic shift for the club, bringing a figure who previously managed Parma to avoid relegation. Having coached within Inter's academy system from 2019 to 2024 before his managerial debut, Chivu became only the second Inter figure to win the Scudetto both as a player and a manager, following Armando Castellazzi.

The victory also confirmed Francesco Pio Esposito as a key player for the title-winning side. The striker, described as one of the secrets behind the team's success, benefited from Chivu's trust in new faces of the squad, helping the team dominate the 2025-26 standings for most of the campaign.

Rival clubs such as AC Milan, AS Roma, and Napoli made significant moves to strengthen their positions during the off-season, yet Inter emerged as the clear winners of the domestic league. The club's ability to regain confidence and secure the trophy stands in stark contrast to the disappointment of their European campaign earlier in the year.

Looking ahead, the Nerazzurri are scheduled to play in the Coppa Italia final on May 13 against Lazio. The match will take place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, where Lazio is managed by Maurizio Sarri.
