New wireless audio device targets content creators with customisable interface and AI-driven noise reduction

Insta360 has released the Mic Pro, a wireless microphone that serves as a significant upgrade to its previous Mic Air model. The device distinguishes itself with a circular e-ink display covering almost the entire face, allowing users to customise the interface with images, words, or logos via a companion app. The screen cycles during charging to prevent image burn-in, giving the unit the appearance of a chunky button badge or enamel pin rather than a traditional audio device.

Audio specifications include a three-microphone array paired with an AI processor for noise reduction. The device supports three polar patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8, enabling users to adjust for various recording environments such as one-on-one interviews or group meetings. To ensure audio integrity, the Mic Pro offers 32-bit floating internal recording to prevent clipping and includes 32GB of built-in storage for independent audio backup.

Connectivity has been streamlined for both Insta360 and third-party users. The Mic Pro connects directly to Insta360 action cameras, such as the X5 and Go Ultra, for 48kHz high-fidelity audio, eliminating the need for a separate receiver in those setups. For non-Insta360 cameras, compatibility is supported via 3.5mm audio cables and USB-C, with improved timecode syncing. New features include Auto Gain Control, Prevent Clipping mode for loud environments, and Dynamic Mode for consistent indoor output levels.

Battery life is rated at 10 hours of transmission, extending to 30 hours total when using the charging case. The device includes a USB-C port for direct charging, removing the need for the charging dock required by its predecessor. Insta360 teased several new devices at NAB 2026 last month, including a dual-camera device called the Luna, but the Mic Pro is the first of these to reach the market.

Pricing is set at $100 for a single unit and $330 for a kit comprising two transmitters, one receiver, and the charging case. The Mic Pro is available to order now from Insta360’s online store and Amazon.
