According to a recent power rankings report from Fox Sports, key players from multiple franchises are sidelined, creating uncertainty for teams attempting to finalise their lineups for the postseason.
Notable absences include Dodgers All-Star outfielder Andy Pages, who fractured his hand on a pitch, and Yankees pitchers Max Fried and Ryan Weathers, both of whom have gone down to injury. The San Diego Padres are also affected, with starter Casey Mize leaving a start early due to an ankle sprain, while Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte continues to deal with an unspecified issue.
The injury toll extends across the league, affecting the Giants, Royals, Reds, Nationals, Mets, and Mariners. All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman is out with a left shoulder strain, and third baseman Kyle Karros is managing concussion symptoms. The bullpen has also been hit, with Samy Natera Jr. placed on the injured list with back spasms despite recording 42 strikeouts in 27 innings this year.
For the Giants, the loss of Matt Chapman and Casey Schmitt for the year, combined with the trade of Luis Arraez and Heliot Ramos, has reduced offensive production. New acquisition Marcelo Mayer, a 23-year-old infielder from Boston, is currently sidelined with a right foot bone bruise.
