IES Infrastructure to Acquire Broadwind Texas Wind Tower Facility
The transaction includes real property and machinery, with approximately 140 employees expected to transition to the new owner following the conclusion of a lease arrangement.

IES Infrastructure, a subsidiary of IES Holdings Inc, has entered a definitive agreement to acquire the production facility of Broadwind Heavy Fabrications in Abilene, Texas. The deal, which was finalised on 30 April 2026 and announced on 5 May 2026, encompasses the sale of real property, equipment, and machinery at the site.
The total consideration for the acquisition is capped at $19.5 million. This figure comprises a cash component and non-cash value linked to a below-market lease arrangement, subject to certain adjustments. The transaction is designed to bolster IES Holdings' positioning as a key player in data centre infrastructure construction.
Approximately 140 employees involved in wind tower manufacturing are expected to transition to IES Infrastructure once the lease term concludes. The specific duration of the lease and the exact timing of the employee transfer were not detailed beyond the agreement's announcement.
The acquisition aligns with IES Holdings' broader strategy in the United States, where the parent company designs and installs integrated electrical and technology systems. The move adds a manufacturing asset to the portfolio, supporting the firm's growth in the infrastructure sector.
Financial performance for the parent company remains robust ahead of the deal's full integration. IES Holdings reported Q2 adjusted earnings per share of $4.16, an increase from $3.30 the previous year, with revenue reaching $974.2 million compared to $834 million. The company also holds a backlog of approximately $3.9 billion as of 31 March 2026.
President and CEO Matt Simmes noted a 17 per cent year-on-year revenue increase and a 21 per cent rise in operating income. This growth has been driven by strength in the Communications and Infrastructure Solutions businesses, with demand remaining particularly strong in the data centre market.
