Huawei launches inward-folding Mate XT 2 trifold in China
Huawei’s third trifold phone starts at ¥19,999 and offers an optional privacy OLED display, with international availability yet to be announced.
Huawei has launched the Mate XT 2, its third trifold smartphone, in China with an inward-folding 10.2-inch flexible display and an optional privacy OLED screen.
The design marks a change from Huawei’s first Mate XT, launched in China in late 2024 with an outward-facing, accordion-style fold. The Mate XT 2 folds both sides of its display inwards, resembling the design used by Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold.
The optional privacy display is available only on the model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, at an additional cost of ¥1,000. When activated, it directs light at narrower angles, reducing visibility from the sides while keeping the screen visible head-on.
The phone also includes Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, IP59 water resistance and a triple rear camera system. The source institution, The Verge, reported that exact specifications for the chipset and cameras were not detailed.
Pricing starts at ¥19,999, or about US$3,000. Huawei has not announced plans for an international release.
