Nine nominees, including one sophomore, are in contention for the award covering the May 10–16 period, with several players instrumental in securing regional division championships.

High School Sports North Jersey has opened voting for its Baseball Player of the Week award for the period of May 10 to 16, with the poll closing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. The annual recognition highlights standout performances from nine nominees, comprising eight seniors and one sophomore, as the high school baseball season reaches its critical phase.
The nominees represent a mix of local programmes, with several players directly contributing to their teams securing division titles or significant winning streaks. Kamper of the Indians batted .400 with two home runs, helping his team secure a share of the Big North Independence Division crown. Similarly, Nitch of the Maroons batted .636 with home runs against Paramus and Bergen Tech, aiding the clinching of the Big North Freedom Division title.
Senatore of the Bridgemen also played a pivotal role in a division victory, batting .538 with two home runs to help extend his team’s winning streak to five games and win the Big North American Division title. Spitaleri of the Panthers contributed to clinching the NJIC Colonial Division crown, recording a .427 batting average and pitching 6 2/3 innings with one earned run allowed.
On the mound, Ortiz of the Crusaders threw a no-hitter and a pair of five-inning shutouts, striking out 22 batters over 10 innings. Kopczynski of the Cougars earned two complete-game wins, allowing just one earned run over 14 innings while batting .455. Russell of the Panthers pitched six innings with no earned runs and no walks in a win over Wood-Ridge, a result that all but guarantees a winning season for his team.
Sobek of the Huskies batted .462 with three steals and 10 RBIs, contributing to a trio of one-run victories. The sole sophomore nominee, Suarez of the Rams, pitched 11 innings with no earned runs and 14 strikeouts, while also contributing four hits and nine steals to help pace his team to a share of the NJIC American Division title.
