How to right-click on a MacBook

Apple calls the function commonly known as right-clicking a “secondary click”. Engadget has outlined several ways to use it on a MacBook, whether the computer is paired with a trackpad, Magic Mouse or another mouse.
On the built-in trackpad, users can hold the Control key while clicking, tap with two fingers, or click a configured bottom corner. The available corner options are the bottom-right and bottom-left corners.
A Magic Mouse or another mouse can also trigger a secondary click through a configured side or corner, depending on the device and its settings. Control-clicking provides another general method with either a trackpad or mouse.
The behaviour can be adjusted in macOS settings under “Point & Click”. For a mouse, the Secondary click menu allows users to select a click on the left or right side. Trackpad settings offer the choice of a two-finger tap or a click in either bottom corner.
Secondary clicks can open contextual menus and support actions such as opening links in a new tab. Engadget notes that the feature has generally been enabled by default in macOS for many years, although earlier versions required it to be switched on.
The precise labels and options may vary by macOS version, device and mouse model, particularly for third-party peripherals.
