Guardians affiliates secure mixed results across minor league levels

The Cleveland Guardians’ minor league affiliates delivered a mixed bag of results across three levels of play on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. While the High-A Fort Wayne TinCaps and Single-A Fredericksburg Nationals secured victories, the Double-A Akron RubberDucks overcame a significant defensive and pitching lapse to defeat the Columbus Clippers.
In the Double-A contest, Akron rallied to beat Columbus 9-8 despite allowing nine runs on 11 hits and 10 walks. Jaison Chourio provided the offensive spark for the RubberDucks, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Bo Naylor also contributed significantly for Columbus, hitting a three-run homer and drawing three walks in a game where the Clippers ultimately fell short.
At High-A, the Fort Wayne TinCaps edged the Lake County Captains 6-5. Nolan Schubart was instrumental in the victory, going 2-for-4 with his 10th home run of the season. Starting pitcher Franklin Gomez pitched five innings for Fort Wayne, allowing three earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts, while the TinCaps’ bullpen held the lead in the final frames.
In Single-A action, the Fredericksburg Nationals defeated the Hill City Howlers 3-2. The game featured a strong debut performance from 19-year-old Alejandro Blasco, who went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Blasco’s offensive output contributed to an impressive 3.500 OPS through his first two games, highlighting his rapid adjustment to the level.
Fredericksburg’s pitching staff, led by Ryan DeSanto, maintained control for four innings, allowing one run on one hit with seven strikeouts. Although Luke Fernandez surrendered two runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Nationals’ offense, including multi-hit games from Juneiker Caceres and Ty Howard, secured the win.
