Local teams secure championships and conference wins across softball, soccer, golf, and tennis

High school athletic competitions across the Green Bay area on Thursday, May 21, delivered a mix of conference championships, regional quarterfinal victories, and nonconference results. The day’s fixtures spanned softball, baseball, soccer, golf, and tennis, with several teams securing titles or advancing in tournament play.

In softball, New London secured a WIAA regional quarterfinal win against Marinette, scoring the decisive run in the top of the seventh inning. Meanwhile, Kiel rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat their opponent in regional action. In baseball, Seymour utilized eight hits and eight walks to secure a Bay Conference victory over Green Bay East, while Luxemburg-Casco dominated the North Eastern Conference with a strong pitching performance from Gavin Lax.

Soccer results saw significant offensive output from several clubs. Ashwaubenon and De Pere played to a scoreless tie in Fox River Classic Conference action, with Ashwaubenon goalkeeper Sawyer Overly recording 23 saves. In other conference play, Clintonville, Freedom, and Sheboygan North all recorded wins, with individual players like Emi Kuhn and Adria Ponschock leading their respective attacks with multiple goals.

Golf saw three separate team championships claimed. De Pere won the Bay Conference title with a team score of 309, while Oconto Falls took the team title at the Brown County Golf Course with a score of 329. Coleman also claimed a team title, finishing eight shots ahead of Gillett. Individual medalists included Dylan Clark for Oconto Falls and Brady Hayward for Pulaski.

Tennis results featured several decisive victories in the Pound area. Coleman secured the team title, and individual matches saw notable wins for players from De Pere and Sheboygan North, including doubles victories that advanced several local pairs in the tournament bracket.

The results reflect a competitive day for local high school sports, with teams across multiple conferences and regions demonstrating strong performances in both individual and team disciplines.
