Govee’s solar-powered string lights are already on sale for 20 percent off
Smart lighting maker offers IP67-rated, app-controlled string lights for $79.99 with up to 13 hours of runtime.

Govee's 34-foot Outdoor Solar String Lights are currently available for purchase on Amazon with a 20 per cent discount, reducing the price to $79.99. The promotion is active via an on-page coupon, though the retailer has not specified an end date for the offer.

The lighting system comprises eight all-weather, IP67-rated LED bulbs that can produce warm white light or select from 16 million different hues. While the bulbs have a maximum brightness of 50 lumens, the manufacturer notes that runtime estimates assume usage is limited to a lower intensity of 10 lumens.

Power is supplied by an integrated 6W solar panel paired with a 4,800mAh battery. Under optimal conditions involving a full day of sunlight and low brightness settings, the battery can sustain the lights for up to 13 hours. However, higher brightness settings significantly reduce this duration.

Users can control the device through the Govee mobile app, compatible with both Android and iOS systems. The interface allows for the selection of brightness levels, scheduling of usage times, and the activation of 100 preset scenes.

The app also includes a feature that enables the lights to react dynamically to background music. While this capability offers a unique visual experience, some industry observers have characterised the music-reactive function as a somewhat gimmicky party trick.

Govee has recently expanded its product range with other smart lighting solutions, including rechargeable table lamps and Matter-compatible ceiling lights. This latest solar offering adds to the company's portfolio of consumer electronics aimed at the home automation market.
