Govee launches cordless smart lamp at a discount, positioning itself as a budget rival to Philips Hue
While the device boasts a bright output and extensive battery life for coloured modes, it lacks the weather resistance rating found in premium portable alternatives.

Govee has made its cordless Table Lamp Classic available for purchase on Amazon at a promotional price of $63.99. This represents a $16 reduction from the standard retail price, marking the first time the device has been offered at this discounted rate. Positioned as a significantly more affordable alternative to the Philips Hue Go, the Govee lamp costs less than half the price of the competitor, aiming to capture consumers who desire portability without the premium cost.
The device features a built-in 4,800mAh battery that delivers up to 30 hours of operation when using coloured lighting. However, users should note that this battery life drops to approximately five hours when operating in brighter white lighting modes. While this is not quite as long as the Philips Hue Go, which claims up to 48 hours of battery life, the Govee Table Lamp Classic compensates with higher brightness, delivering up to 500 lumens compared to the rival's output.
Smart home integration is a key feature of the new release, with the lamp supporting Matter compatibility. This allows users to control the device through major smart home platforms via the Govee app. The app also enables AI-driven features where users can type prompts to generate matching lighting effects, alongside music sync capabilities and preset scenes organised around specific moods and themes.
Customisation extends to the colour temperature, which can be adjusted between a warm 2700K and a cooler 6500K. The lamp is designed to be lightweight and portable, making it suitable for moving between rooms or carrying to different areas of a home. Despite its portability, the device lacks an IP54 weather resistance rating, meaning it is unsuitable for outdoor use in rain or conditions involving splashes.
