A writer says Google Search answered a search for old Dario Saric fan posts with an empathetic response, while the requested results appeared further down.
A writer has criticised Google Search’s AI Overview after it interpreted the query “hes never coming over dario” as a request for emotional support. The writer was looking for old posts about a Philadelphia 76ers fan joke involving Dario Saric.
Saric was drafted by the 76ers in 2014 while playing professionally in Turkey. He planned to finish his contract there before joining the team, and “never coming over” became an in-joke among some fans, according to the writer.
The writer said the Overview offered an empathetic response and that expanding it showed a fuller answer. The account does not include a screenshot or the full text of that response.
The old tweets or Reddit posts the writer wanted were available further down the search results. They questioned whether a search engine should provide a chat-style answer when a user is looking for links.
The account, published by Hacker News on 27 September, describes one person’s experience and does not establish how Google responds to similar queries more broadly.
