Global Partners appoints ex-Starbucks executive Emily Filc to lead retail operations
Filc joins after 22 years at Starbucks, where she oversaw more than 140 locations, to guide operational discipline across Global Partners’ network of 300 sites and 67 Texas gas stations.

Global Partners has appointed Emily Filc as vice president of retail operations, a company spokesperson confirmed to C-Store Dive. Filc joins the Massachusetts-based retailer after a 22-year tenure at Starbucks, where she most recently served as regional director of operations. She will oversee guest experiences, brand execution, and operational discipline across the company’s retail network.
In her final role at Starbucks, Filc managed profit and loss for more than 140 locations across four Northeastern states. Her region served as a test market for new business concepts, where she oversaw 18 pilot programs for new technologies and operating practices. During this period, she also helped open more than 60 new locations and remodel 40 stores.
Filc’s career at Starbucks began in 2004 as a front-line employee. She progressed through store-level management roles, including assistant store manager and store manager, before becoming a district manager in 2012. She held that position for nine years. Prior to moving into regional operations in 2019, she spent one year in the human resources department as a partner resource manager and recruiter.
The appointment coincides with Global Partners’ increased investment in its convenience retail network. The company recently opened its first new Alltown Fresh convenience store in nearly three years and is expected to debut its first Honey Farms Market location in New York later this year. Global Partners’ latest annual report indicates an expected capital expenditure of between $75 million and $85 million this year for building and updating facilities.
Global Partners operates approximately 300 company-operated sites primarily in the Northeast. The company also operates 67 gas stations in Texas through its Spring Retail Partners joint venture. A spokesperson described Filc’s leadership philosophy as centred on empowerment, accountability, and helping teams understand the rationale behind their work.
