A GitHub project called RemoveMacAI offers a way to disable Apple Intelligence features and remove their downloaded models on macOS 27. The project says it also blocks macOS from downloading the models again.

The tool requires users to confirm the change and approve a configuration profile through System Settings. RemoveMacAI says the changes can be reversed and the profile persists across system updates.

The project lists Siri, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, Apple Intelligence summaries and several Photos and Xcode features among those it disables. It says dictation remains available because its speech models are separate.

Other functions may also be affected, including apps using Apple’s on-device models, Visual Intelligence and natural-language editing in Calendar, according to the project.

RemoveMacAI says its script verifies a release checksum, runs from a temporary directory, makes no network requests and collects no data. These claims, along with its descriptions of the tool’s behaviour, have not been independently verified in the supplied material.

Deleted models may continue to appear in Storage settings until macOS removes the files on its own schedule, the project says. It credits pared, a tool by 4evy, as the basis for its work.
