Giants reportedly extend Jameis Winston through 2028
The reported two-year, US$13 million deal would retain Winston as New York’s experienced backup behind Jaxson Dart, although the Giants have not officially confirmed the agreement.
The New York Giants have reportedly agreed to a two-year, US$13 million contract extension with quarterback Jameis Winston, according to Fox Sports, citing NorthJersey.com.
The reported agreement would keep Winston with the organisation through the 2028 season and extend his tenure beyond the final year of his existing contract. The Giants have not officially confirmed the deal, and its structure, guarantees and signing status have not been disclosed.
Winston, 32, is expected to remain New York’s primary backup and a mentor to starting quarterback Jaxson Dart. He joined the Giants in 2025 after previous spells with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns.
He reportedly made two starts for New York last season while Dart was sidelined by injury, completing 37 of 65 passes for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also recorded 23 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Winston was selected first overall by Tampa Bay in the 2015 NFL Draft. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, he also worked as a FOX Sports correspondent, covering the tournament across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
