FIFA has released the full fixture list for the 2026 World Cup, confirming a 38-day tournament that will commence on 11 June. The event marks a significant structural shift in international football governance, expanding from 32 to 48 teams. The expanded field will compete in 104 matches across 16 host cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The tournament schedule includes kickoff times for all group stage and knockout matches. Broadcast rights in the region are held by Fubo, Fox, and Telemundo, with all times listed in Eastern Time. The knockout stage is scheduled to begin on 28 June, culminating in the final on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Co-hosts Mexico will open the tournament against South Africa on 11 June at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. The United States, hosting for the second time, will face Paraguay on 12 June at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. Australia’s opening match is set for 13 June at 12 a.m. Eastern Time against Turkiye.
The field of 48 teams includes every former champion except Italy, alongside four debutants: Cabo Verde, Curacao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan. Defending champions Argentina are expected to feature Lionel Messi, while other notable contenders include France, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, and England.
The final will feature the first half-time show in FIFA World Cup history. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the performance will be headlined by Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. The event aims to support the Global Citizen Education Fund, targeting $100 million for children worldwide.
