Exeter honour Kevin Miller before Tranmere draw

Exeter City paid tribute to Kevin Miller before their League Two match against Tranmere Rovers, holding a minute’s applause and displaying his image on the stadium screen.

Jack Fitzwater placed a goalkeeper’s shirt bearing Miller’s name on the pitch before kick-off. Miller, who died earlier this week aged 57, made more than 200 appearances for Exeter and worked on the club’s coaching staff until June.

Manager Matt Taylor said players and staff had been affected by Miller’s death, but praised the squad’s effort in a goalless match. Speaking to BBC Radio Devon, he said the emotional strain had contributed to fatigue late in the game.

Exeter registered three shots on target and failed to score for a third successive League Two match. The result left the club 20th in the table.

Taylor said the attacking problems extended beyond the forwards’ finishing, identifying a lack of creation across the team as a factor in the draw.
